April 20th
I picked up my ticket to New Orleans today. Jazz Fest - nice !!!
Following that excitement, I put on my serious walking boots, went to Mall and bought a few necessary items including a new electric razor that recharges on any voltage and a guide book to New Orleans Smmmokin'!
You know something, I'm Jealous of me.
April 21st
The day started really well - I overslept, and in my rush to meet R for Lunch, I had the most traumatic journey into the city ever - I seemed to just miss every bus and train connection, then managed to get lost in the underground shopping mall attached to Queen subway station.
I had a chat with a courier in the lift (elevator - I'm through with apologising) and she was having the same sort of day. When I finally met Romana, at the Peter St. Cafe (a classic greasy spoon cafe) half an hour late, it turns out that her day was no good as well. A shame because the weather was superb - thanks El Nino, you're really adding to the value of my holiday.
After lunch I resolved to take deep breaths and be calm at all times. My meanderings through downtown Toronto took me to the Eaton centre.
It's big.
Really big.
I mean 6 floors (and I only traversed three) seriously big - you could lose the Butts Centre (aka the Broad St Mall, who needs heritage or the 70s yellow and orange decor, but that went years ago - am I rambling?) in it - which come to think of it, may actually not be a bad idea.
I got a guide book to Boston, some CDs (cheaper than in blighty, I think they make them locally out of racoons or something) and a rucksack (possibly called a haversack over here, more research is required) which I probably could have bought cheaper anywhere else in the known universe, but there is an infectious air about the place that really brought out the shopaholic in me - and believe me I don't like shopping.

I learnt something new today - the 'no standing' signs do not refer to the sidewalks, but to the roads - in other words, no parking or stopping. Luckily I picked this up from a guide book as I still haven't dared to hire a car and drive on the other side of the road. Anyway, I desperately needed to rest my aching feet, but felt a need to write something down for todays entry.
